The 2017 Microfinance Award went to the Mexican Cooperativa de Ahorro y Préstamo Tosepantomin during a ceremony held at the European Investment Bank, in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duchess, Honorary President of LuxFLAG, and the Hereditary Grand Duke. Tosepantomin helps marginalised rural Mexican communities with their residential housing building projects by offering savings and home loan products paired with technical support. The cooperative is also recognised for its promotion of eco-friendly building techniques. The winner received a €100,000 prize from the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. The Award is jointly organised by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP) and the Inclusive Finance Network Luxembourg (InFiNe.lu). Read more

The 2017 European Microfinance Week, organised by e-MFP, counted a record number of 490 participants from 66 countries over the three days. Sachin Vankalas, Director of Operations and Sustainabilty at LuxFLAG, spoke at a panel discussing current and future perspectives for financial inclusion investors as well as a panel event organised by InFiNe looking to the future of Inclusive Finance. LuxFLAG was also present with a stand at the event.
