Key Trends in Capital Markets: Green Finance
GSK Luxembourg organised a breakfast seminar on the topic of Green Finance on 11 September. Mario Mantrisi (LuxFLAG) took part in the panel discussion with Julie Becker (Luxembourg Stock Exchange) and Fabio Mandorino (ABBL), moderated by Dr. Philipp Mössner (GSK Luxembourg). Following the COP 21 Paris Agreement, tackling climate change has become a top global priority of legislative actors worldwide. Recent capital market legislation in Europe and Luxembourg are expected to further boost Green Finance in Luxembourg and beyond. The panel highlighted that ESG should not only be validated as risk factor but as an investment objective. Green bonds have seen a high growth and success, being often oversubscribed. Education was mentioned as a main challenge in terms of issuance and equal performance potential. It was concluded that the cooperation with universities and international certificates for financial professionals is key to incorporate sustainable finance aspects to a full extent in the industry.
